Host Company Description
The host company is private club with a proud history, rich traditions and commitment to the
customs of hospitality. The club has excellent facilities, programs and services to serve the social,
athletic and recreational needs of its guests. The club has a golf course and banquet halls to host
special events.
Located on very spacious grounds, the club' s golf course has topiary bushes manicured to spell
the club' s name. Also the club has a nice pond with large white swans and other birds swimming
in it, some gazebos, and other nice touches around the clubhouse all to accommodate the needs
of special events frequently taking place during the summer months. The banquet hall receives
most complements from their guests. Located on two levels, it has a capacity to host different
wedding events at the same time without interference.
The objective of this club' s International Internship Program is to provide interns with enhanced
knowledge and skills that will complement interns' academic program of study with American
business management training and high level of customer service in a large, private club
environment. This is accomplished through supervised, hands-on experience in events
management and club maintenance departments.
Applicant Qualifications
- To apply for the internship program, you must be a business administration or hospitality
management undergraduate/graduate student OR recent graduates interested in a
country club internship for the specified period.
- Interns must have excellent English language skills as they will be frequently
communicating with guests.
- Must be flexible and be able to assist with a variety of tasks especially during special
events, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, kitchen environment is hot and muggy.
Management Internship Program Details:
- Business Organization and Operations - acquire knowledge of the club' s organization
and operations and their application to the hospitality industry.
- Interns will rotate through various club functions from food service to special event
preparation, to kitchen operations.
- Interns will learn how to function as part of a team; ability to get along with other
employees and to willingly pitch in when needed.
- Interns will gain understanding of each food and beverage operation, including fine,
casual and seasonal dining, banquet sales and service, kitchen.
- Interns will acquire customer service skills - understanding the relationship between
providing consistently excellent customer service and the success of the business; ability
to anticipate customer needs and to take action to deliver customer satisfaction.
- This internship program should help enhance intern' s business communication skills in
hospitality environment - gain ability to use appropriate language and to effectively
convey meaning of the message.
